In the territory of Turi, the cultivation of vines and the culture of wine, whether due to the favorable climate or the particular nature of the soil, boasts a thousand-year-old tradition, as demonstrated by the important archaeological finds of Attic craters decorated with figures and scenes from Greek mythology, used for pouring wine in the bacchanals of the time and attesting to the cult of wine in the Turi Peuceta of the 5th century BC. A vocation that saw in the 19th century, the "Primaticcio di Turi" produced by Mr. Cozzolongo, land at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1867, and in Vienna in 1873, consecrating its fame at an international level. A wine with an intense ruby red color tending to purple and orange with aging, with a soft, warm, enveloping, full, harmonious, fruity flavor of cherry, black cherry and plum, tending to velvety with aging. With an emanation of wild berries on the nose with notes of cherry, black cherry and plum, with a characteristic light aroma. Today, the well-known wineries of Turi are members of the Gioia del Colle DOC Consortium, producing value for their community and achieving success and mentions at Vinitaly.
