Mayor De Tomaso lights up the audience and wins the hearts of those present.
Turi aims for high-quality tourism, starting with the synergy between culture and food and wine. Mayor Giuseppe De Tomaso presented the objectives at BIT in Milan.
The revitalization of the historic center, the promotion of the Ferrovia cherry, the Faldacchea, the Tronere, and other local gastronomic delights are at the heart of Turi's tourism strategy. The Primitivo wine, a true pride of the town, will take center stage in high-quality events, including the Cherry Festival, the Delights of Turi Festival, and Bacco per Bacco.
Culture as a Key Goal
Turi will participate in the Lector in Fabula program, organized by the Di Vagno Foundation, and will enhance the local cultural scene with high-level events at the Municipal Auditorium on Via Montanelli.
A central objective is the Gramsci Project, aimed at redeveloping the area surrounding the prison and establishing a museum in honor of the thinker, who was imprisoned in Turi under fascism. Gramsci himself reflected on the importance of bringing tourism closer to small villages in one of his Prison Notebooks. The ultimate goal of this initiative is to earn Turi recognition as a capital of culture in Gramsci’s name.
TuriBorgoAntico: A Project for Happiness
The revitalization of the historic center is also at the core of TuriBorgoAntico, a newly launched project that aspires to give proper value to one of the most charming villages in Puglia, ultimately transforming it into the "Village of Happiness".
Collaboration for Greater Success
To achieve even greater tourism success, synergy with neighboring towns is essential. There is a deep sense of shared purpose with Sammichele di Bari, as emerged in a joint conference between the undersigned and Mayor Lorenzo Netti. We will organize initiatives together to strengthen our shared vision.
Full speed ahead for a Turi that is ever more attractive and captivating!
